The Toshiba 55TL515 55-inch 3D TV featuring passive 3D technology, 2D to 3D conversion, Net TV, 240Hz refresh rate for a more smooth motion, in  a chrome-colored metallic black bezel design with a depth of 1.5 inch.

The passive 3D technology allows the use of polarized 3D glasses, which are much cheaper and lighter than active shutter 3D glasses.  As such, you can enjoy the 3D movies and games with your family and friends for a relative long period of the time.

Toshiba utilized the CEVO engine in the 3D TV models both the active and passive 3D TVs.  According to Toshiba:

“…the CEVO Engine, which includes three key 3D technologies that set Toshiba 3D apart:

  • TriVector™ 2D to 3D Conversion: With TriVector, consumers can watch all of their favorite 2D TV programming, 2D Blu-ray Discs®, and personal camcorder movies in high quality 3D.  Consumers can even view their 2D digital still pictures in 3D and play their favorite 2D video games in 3D.
  • 3D Resolution+™: 3D Resolution+ technology automatically upconverts and sharpens 3D sources that are not native full HD – such as top/bottom or left/right formats – to create a consistently high quality 3D experience.
  • 3D Cross Talk Canceller: For Dynamic 3D models, 3D Cross Talk Canceller technology mitigates any cross talk ghosting to create the clearest possible dynamic 3D images.”

Net TV is Toshiba’s version of Internet TV that streams the premium Internet apps such as Netflix, amazon VOD, Vudu and Hulu plus,  in addition to free apps such as  Yahoo widgets and YouTube.

The TL515 series includes five different sized models:
