Samsung 3D plasma TVs 2011
Samsung will offer 8 series of plasma HDTVs in 2011 with 20 models. These includes a 720p 2D series, a 720p 3D series, three series with Full HD 1080p resolution and less than 3-inch cabinet depths, and three Full HD 1080p series with ultra-slim panels.
This year, Samsung has a “Plus One Strategy.” That is, a 63-inch set last year becomes a 64-inch screen size model, a 58-inch set becomes a 59-inch model, a 50-inch set becomes a 51-inch model and a 42-inch set becomes a 43-inch model.
Only two series of 3D plasma HDTVs were disclosed: the flagship PND8000 series and the PND6500 series. Both series feature an ultra-slim 1.5 inch panel, Full HD 3D 1080p, and Smart TV. Samsung’s new Smart TV includes Samsung Apps with a universal search and Web browser, and built-in Wi-Fi. The universal search can search across broadcast listings, networked PCs and mobile devices, and Internet channels and Video on Demand services.
In addition, the PND8000 series has a LCD Touch Control TV remote with a virtual QWERTY keypad and built-in Wi-Fi. The LCD remote can control your home theater, access Samsung Apps over the Internet without interfering with the TV’s on-screen action, and even duplicate the TV screen with its built-in 3-inch display.
The major differences of the PND8000 series and PND6500 series are the picture enhancements. The Samsung PND6500 series does not have Real Black Filter picture enhancement and Local Contrast Enhancer (LCE) found in the PND8000 series.
