The Panasonic TC-VT30 is Panasonic’s  top of the line  3D plasma TV featuring an Infinite Black Pro 2 panel, Viera Connect Internet Suite, 3D compatible SD card slot, and THX certification.  The TC-VT30 series  includes one pair of 3D glasses.

The  TC-PVT30 series are the successor of the last year popular TC-PVT25 series 3D plasma TV.  If you want to buy a 3D TV, this will be one of the top choices on your watch list. The Panasonic VT30 series was one of three nominees for cnet’s Best of CES award in the TVs category.

The major improvement of the VT30 series over the VT25 series is the addition of the ”Infinite Black Pro 2 Panel.” Panasonic claimed  the panel “raises the luminous efficiency while minimizing pre-discharge, resulting in even more subtle, delicate blacks, in both dark and bright environments than last year’s Infinite Black Pro Panel provided.”

Other improvements of the VT series over the VT25 series include crosstalk reduction in 3D and the screen filters that can enhance black levels in ambient light.

The main difference of the VT30 series with the step down  GT30 series is the panel.  The VT30 used the Infinite Black Pro 2 panel and the GT30 series used the Infinite Black 2 panel.   At this time, I could not find the details on how much better is the Infinite Black Pro 2 panel comparing the Infinite Black 2 panel.  In addition, the VT30 series comes with a pair of 3D glasses and the GT30 does not.

The Panasonic TC-PVT30 series includes two models:

The key competitor of the Panasonic VT30 series  is the Samsung PND8000 series 3D TV.  There is no head to head comparison review available. Never the less, I like the Samsung’s Smart TV platform, that offers a universal search and web browser.  Samsung’s LCD touch control remote is also unique and very useful.   For more details read the Samsung PND8000 series 3D plasma TV review.

The VT30 plasma TV is an active 3D HDTV, that means you have to wear the expensive and heavy active 3D glasses. If you plan to buy a 3D TV and watch with many friends and family members. It is better off to get a passive 3D LED TV. Such as Vizio XVT556SP
