Best lenses for Nikon D5000
Beginners may want to read this post to understand the terms: How to understand Nikon lenses. Nikon D5000 does not come with in camera AF and some lenses can only be used with manual focus. PLease read here for Nikon D5000 compatible lenses. The most affordable lenses are the kit lens Nikon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G AF-S DX VR and telephoto lens Nikon 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED IF AF-S DX VR Zoom Nikkor Lens ($216.87 at amazon). Both lenses are light, sharp with very useful VR (vibration reduction).
If you prefer one lens, Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 G ED-IF AF-S VR DX Zoom-Nikkor Lens is a very popular lens. If you want a better walk around lens, Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 is the best choice. This lens is sharp and has a large aperture f/2.8 throughout the focus range.
