LG Infina LE8500 series LED HDTVs feature Full array LED backlight with local dimming; 240Hz refresh rate; Netcast internet connection for access to Netflix, Skype, Napster, Youtube and VUDU on demand video service; DLNA compatible for music, photos and video; optional WIFI and THX certification.

LED technology can offer much higher dynamic contrast ratio leading to a deeper black level than standard LCD TV. There are several kinds of LED backlight including Edge-lit and local dimming.  The local dimming can avoid the inferior uniformity associated with Edge-lit models.  Therefore, Full array LED backlight with local dimming LED TV, such as LE8500 will offer better picture quality.

Comparing with LG LE9500 series, LE8500 series has 0.92 inch panel depth and 240Hz refresh rate.  LE9500 series has a Uni-layer design with ultra-slim 0.33-inch  bezel panel and 480Hz refresh rate.

LE8500 is one of the six series of LED TVs that LG will introduce this year. Other series include LE9500, LE7500, LE5500, LE5400 and LE3000.  LE8500 series is available in 47-inch LG 47LE8500 and 55-inch LG 55LE8500.
