lg pz950The LG 60PZ950 is LG’s top of the line 60-inch 3D plasma HDTV in 2011.  The 60PZ950 features Smart TV, 3D ready TV with 2D to 3D conversion, THX 3D certified display and WiFi ready in a thin 1.8″ benzel design. The PZ950 series is an active 3D TV that uses active shutter glasses. The 60LZ950 is the successor of the last year’s 60PX950.

Other features include TruBlack filter, 10M:1 dynamic contrast ratio, 600Hz Max Sub Field Driving, and Skype ready.

THX 3D certification is a big deal according LG. It has to pass 400 tests of left and right eye images for color accuracy, cross-talk, viewing angles and video processing for the 3D test.

Smart TV is LG’s upgrade version of last year’s Netcast Entertainment Access, including apps such as Netflix, Picasa Hulu plus, youTube, an app store and a web browser. To improve the user interface, LG uses an unique motion-controlled magic remote that accepts gesture commands such as rotating. You can also use iPhone or Android phone as the remote.

LG SmartTV-enabled sets can integrate into a wireless home network by using a USB wireless broadband adaptor (included). All LG SmartTV models also support multi-media playback from a connected USB device including photos (JPEG), music (MP3) and video (DivX HD).

Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) technology allows users to access content stored on other DLNA-certified devices within the home, such as computers or an LG NAS device.

The major performance improvement of the PZ950 series over the PZ750 series is a black filter that was designed to enhance the black level in a brighter room.

The LG PZ950 series has two models:

  • 60-inch 60PZ950 $2699
  • 50-inch 50PZ950 $1899
