How to send SMS from pc to cell phone

Most of people change cell phones every two years. When you change your phones, you need to transfer the address book from one phone to the other. If you are like me, with over 200 numbers on my cell phone, a good way to transfer the phone numbers was necessary. In addition, in case the phone was lost or broken, back up the phone address book is essential.

There are three ways to do it.

The simple way is to have your provider to do it for you for a fee. Most of carriers have two services one in store back up the other moth back up subscription service

The second way is to use a Backup-Pal. This device connects to most of phones. No software is required; you simply plug it in and hit the backup button. There is not much storage space inside the Backup-Pal; a paltry 128 KB of nonvolatile flash memory is all you get. Backup Pal can be bought here for $50.

The third way is the use of back up software.

  • Lifehacker recommends Bitpim, a freeware which is mainly good for CDMA phones from LG, Samsung, Sanyo. The software and information is here.
  • For motorola phones such as Razr V3 series, the best bet is to use motorola phone tool which you can buy it for only $6 at amazon. This software need to update a few times before it works, just be patient. Once you upgraded the software, it is rather easy to back up your address book, load or download pictures from your cell phone, everything works like a charm.
  • For Nokia phone, I can only find a software but there is not review available. If you have a Nokia phone, you can try it and see. I would appreciae it if you can tell me if work or not.
