Canon confirmed the line defects on some of the Canon PowerShot G10, the affected products have the following serial numbers:

G10 with this defect can be fixed free of charge even warranty period is expired.
According to Canon, this line defect is due to the camera settings and does not happen all the time. The length of the line depends on the subject to shoot and ”Line with the images” can not be repaired. For detailed information, please read here.
