If you are looking for Nikon landscape lenses, read here.

Landscape photography needs a wide range of focal length.  Most of the time, landscape photography requires small aperture to achieve a large DOF (Depth of Field). Fast lenses are not necessary for landscape photography, but sharp lenses are critical to get photographs with large DOF. Image stabilization allows to take sharp photos at much slower shutter speeds, lenses with IS are great for landscape photography.

For small sensor cameras such as Canon XSi, Canon 40D, and Canon 50D, the most useful lenses are wide angle lens Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM, walk around lenses such as Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM or Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM, and telephoto lenses such as Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM or Canon 70-200mm f/4L USM.

As more affordable kits, wide angle lens Tokina AT-XAF124DXC 12-24mm, walk around lenses such as Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS, Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8, or  Sigma AF 17-70mm f/2.8-4.5 and telephoto lens Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS are great choices.

If you have full frame cameras such as Canon 1D, Canon 5D mark II, Canon 17-40mm f/4L USM,

or Canon 24-105mm f/4L IS USM and Canon 70-200mm f/4L IS USM are excellent combinations.  All lenses are light and sharp.
