The best time to buy LCD HDTVs is from March to May when the new models are released. At that time, old models have to cleared from inventory. For HDTVs, there is no need to buy the newest models.
26-inch LCD TVs are great for small bedrooms, kitchen and student dorms. According to consumer reports, amazon customer reviews and many other sources, the following 26-inch LCD TVs were selected based on the quality, value and price.
Sony KDL-26L5000
Sony Bravia KDL-26L5000 26-inch LCD TV is Sony’s entry level LCD TV featuring 720p resolution, dynamic contrast ratio of 13,000:1, three HDMI inputs, two component and one PC input, Bravia link modules and Bravia sync which can give you one touch access and control of all your compatible home theatre device including select Sony Handycam camcorders. Consumer Reports rated Sony KDL-26L5000 among the best 26-inch LCD TVs with top picture quality and good sound. The only problem is the relative narrow viewing angle.
Samsung LN26B450
Samsung LN26B460 is Samsung 2009 LCD HDTV featuring 720p resolution, 30,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, 8ms response time and Wide Color Enhancer 2 technology. Samsung LN26B460 has extensive connectivity including 3 HDMI inputs, one component and one composite video input. Consumer Reports tested Samsung LN26B460 to have top picture quality but poor sound and limited viewing angle.

ViewSonic N2690w is a 26-inch LCD TV with 720p resolution, one HDMI input and one component video input. Consumer Reports rated this low priced LCD TV to have good picture quality and sound quality. However, the viewing angle is rather narrow.
